Prez appeals to women achievers to become guides for other women
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday urged women achievers to become guides for other women and encourage them to choose their careers and realize their dreams.
Union minister Arjun Munda said Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee should immediately dismiss Akhil Giri from the Cabinet.
TMC leader and Minister Akhil Giri on Saturday apologized for his comments on President Droupadi Murmu. Even the TMC said that the party does not approve of Giri’s statements about the President of the country.
TMC MP Shantanu Sen said that his party does not support Giri’s statement and strongly condemns the statement. “We respect the President and the Constitution,” he said.

Sen, while cautioning Giri that there is a disciplinary committee of the party which will do its job, also advised the leaders to refrain from such comments.
He also said that his party holds President Droupadi Murmu in high regard. In such a situation, the comment made by the TMC leader is unfortunate and is strongly condemned, he said.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Arjun Munda has said that the TMC has insulted 10.5 crore tribals. The party has lodged an FIR in this matter at Nandigram.
The BJP has also demanded intervention and action from the National Commission for Women.
Munda said that the statement of the TMC leader shows the real character of the TMC. He said that the government of West Bengal continues to exploit the tribals of the country and the tribals of West Bengal.
Munda said that this statement is disturbing, and he condemns it. He said that Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee should immediately dismiss Giri from the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP leader Saumitra Khan has written to the National Commission for Women (NCW), demanding strict action against TMC leader Giri. He has demanded the NCW to arrest the TMC leader and take strict action.
The BJP has also filed a complaint against TMC Minister Akhil Giri at Nandigram police station for his controversial statement. The National Commission for Women has also taken cognizance of the matter.
